Hershey boys volleyball defeats New Oxford

Hershey Boys volleyball beat New Oxford 3-1 on Wednesday, May 10, 2018.

In the first match of the set, New Oxford jumped out to an 8-4 lead. Hershey quickly closed the gap thanks to a kill by junior Ian Devore that brought Hershey within one point and another kill by junior Timothy Lee that gave Hershey a 15-14 lead. Hershey would maintain that lead and win the first game 25-22.

Hershey started the second game the same way they ended the first one. They jumped out to a 9-5 lead early on. But it didn’t take New Oxford long to fight back, as they quickly took an 11-10 lead. Hershey then went on an impressive 10-1 run and made the score 20-12.

Senior Tim Zeiber ended the game with a serve the just made it over the net out of the reach of the New Oxford players for Hershey’s 24th point. The next point went to Hershey and they took the second game 25-16.

Hershey once again got an early lead in the third game. They had an 8-5 advantage early on and then 15-11 later in the game. But New Oxford managed to tie Hershey at 20 and then took a 23-21 lead. Hershey fought back to tie the game at 24, but New Oxford ended up winning the third game 28-26.

The fourth game was also very close. New Oxford started out with a 9-4 lead, but Hershey then started to come back and closed it to an 11-10 gap. Hershey then took a 17-15 lead. New Oxford managed to tie the game at 18, but Hershey won 25-21, securing the victory.

This win brings Hershey’s record to 10-6, and their next match is May 10 at Carlisle.
