Hershey Baseball defeats Bishop McDevitt Crusaders

The Hershey High School Trojans mercy ruled the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders 12-2 on April 5th, 2017. Both the Crusaders and the Trojans went into the game with a 1-1 record.

The game began with walks and strikeouts from both teams. However, HHS junior Patrick Blackall’s double brought in two runs. Senior Christian Corado’s walk brought in the third run of the second inning.

Junior Grant Santangelo hit a long double to allow the Trojans to lead 5-0 at the bottom of the second inning.

The Crusaders were able to bring in two runs in the fourth inning; however, senior Nick Laman continued to grow the Trojans lead with a deep home run in the fourth. His homerun increased the Trojans’ lead to 10-2 in the fourth inning.

Following Laman’s home run, the Trojans only needed two more runs to mercy rule the Crusaders. The result of the game ended as just that, with the Hershey Trojans beating the Crusaders by the top of the fifth.

“We all played well, got runners into scoring position, and had some timely hitting which allowed us a victory,” said Corado.

The Trojans take on Susquehanna Township on April 6, at Susquehanna.
