Hershey Baseball Loses to Lower Dauphin

The Hershey Trojans lost to the Falcons of Lower Dauphin 10-6 at the Trojans home field, Memorial Field, on April 13, 2017.

Half of the game’s runs were scored in the first inning with LD scoring five runs off of Hershey sophomore Jack Goulet in the top of the first while Hershey kept the game close by scoring three in their first chance.

Hershey’s runs were primarily driven in by a long double by senior Owen Deflitch and a two-run single by junior Steven Solt.

While LD had several hits to contribute to their run total, Hershey’s errors also helped.

Senior Kris Kremer had two errors in the first inning at shortstop and Jack Goulet hit two batters and threw two wild pitches in the first inning.

Matt Kephart of LD hit a controversial triple in the fourth inning that was said to be off-the-wall, but it may have gone over the fence. The LD coach argued with the umpire about the hit while the LD dugout watched in confusion. Kephart would score later in the inning.

Hershey’s next game is April 20 at Palmyra.
