Every week, Madi Held and Shanna Sweitzer are giving you a weekly review of ABC’s The Bachelor.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, this show aires on Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC and is about a single man looking for a woman with whom he would like to spend the rest of his life. After extensive interviews and auditions, 30 women were picked to be on the show this season. In each episode, there are group dates and one-on-one dates where the bachelor gets to spend time with the contestants. At the end of every week, there is a rose ceremony where the bachelor narrows down his choices by giving roses to the girls he wants to stay another week. Those who do not receive a rose are then “sent home” from the show. This helps him to then focus on the girls that he thinks will be the best for him. At the end, the bachelor must decide between the two remaining girls which one he’d like to propose to. Many couples end up breaking off their engagement and splitting up, but there has also been a lot of successful couples that do get married and even have children. The show has become popular all throughout America, and on January 2, 2017, the 21st season started with Nick Viall as America’s Bachelor.

Continued from last week…

The heated argument between Corinne and Taylor continued as they both insulted each other’s intelligence. In the confessional, Raven said, “I don’t think Corinne’s actually done anything to Taylor. Taylor just psychoanalyzed all of this.” I completely agree with her. Taylor just let Corinne’s actions get to her, and now she’s getting wrapped up in the drama. Corinne is manipulating Nick into thinking Taylor’s disliked among the girls and is there for the wrong reasons. Nick believed her, and I think that’s going to bite back at him in the future. Sarah and Astrid were sent home at the rose ceremony leaving Whitney, Danielle M., Jasmine, Rachel, Jaimi, Josephine, Vanessa, Alexis, Corinne, and Taylor each with a rose. After the ceremony, they packed their bags for New Orleans, Louisiana.

One-on-One Date

Nick and Rachel joined in with some street performers on this one-on-one date in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rachel received the first impression rose in the first episode and the two of them still have undeniable chemistry.

Shanna

Rachel was picked for the only one-on-one date this week. She and Nick spent time together walking around the shops and dancing with street performers. Their chemistry is unmistakable.

Talking about Rachel, Nick said, “She has it all.”

I’ve changed my mind about Rachel being shady. I think she has good intentions and an obvious bond with Nick. I really like them together.

After having dinner in a warehouse full of Mardi Gras parade floats and a meaningful talk about each other’s personal lives, Nick gave Rachel the rose without hesitation.

Group Date

Shanna

Josephine, Kristina, Alexis, Raven, Jaimi, Vanessa, Danielle M., Whitney, Jasmine, and Danielle L. joined Nick on the group date to the Haunted Houmas Plantation. The girls (and Nick) all got spooked at the set ups in this haunted house which was actually extremely hilarious. Even though Raven was the first to tell Nick she was falling in love with him (even though it was by accident), Danielle M. got the rose on this group date.

Two-on-One

Madi

The way this special date works is that two girls (who are usually enemies) both go on a date with Nick. It’s usually extremely awkward, but that’s what makes it so entertaining. At the end of the date, Nick must give a single rose to one of the girls and the other is sent home on the spot.

Corinne and Taylor were picked for this date and were taken out to a bayou where they met Nick. They each had their own alone time with him. During this time, Corinne told lies about Taylor and exaggerated things that had happened at the house. On the other hand, Taylor was extremely honest with Nick and defended herself instead of trash talking Corinne. Eventually they all sat down and Nick decided to give the rose to Corinne, meaning that Taylor would be sent home. From there, Taylor was on her way home while Corinne and Nick went to dinner together to finish the night. During the meal, Taylor interrupted and asked to talk to Nick, and that’s when the episode ended.

Next week’s preview shows Nick getting really emotional in front of the girls, and from what it looks like, both Taylor and Corinne will be sent home. I guess we’ll see what happens!
