HHS Hockey Team Defeated by Central Dauphin for Bears Cup Title

In the championship game, Hershey fell to the Central Dauphin Rams 4-3 on February 28th, 2020 at the Hersheypark Stadium.

Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by sophomore Toby Kauffman and senior captain Jason Rippon, CD clawed back into the game and took a 3-2 lead into the third period.

With less than 10 minutes left in the 3rd period, senior Cole Buchanan scored to send the game into overtime.

Just minutes into overtime, Central Dauphin’s William Hershey scored the game winner to defeat the Trojans for the Bears Cup title.

Captain and winner of the CPIHL Justin Yingling Memorial Award, Jason Rippon looked back on the season.  “We knew when we started the season,” Rippon said, “we wanted to do something we’ve never been able to before.”

As they head into the Flyers Cup, the team is motivated to make it to the finals. Rippon said, “That loss showed us the way we need to play for the Flyers Cup in order to get back to the finals and win it all this time.”

The Trojans play Strath Haven High School at Ice Line in West Chester, PA at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.
