Girls Varsity Basketball Falls Short Against Lower Dauphin

The Hershey High School (HHS) Girls Basketball team lost to the Lower Dauphin Falcons with a final score of 52-33 on Friday, January 10th, 2020. 

The Trojans kept the score close with the Falcons early ending the first quarter with a score of 15-12. 

During the second quarter, Lower Dauphin began to pull ahead, scoring 14 points. Hershey’s head coach, Ronald Moore, called a timeout with 1:32 left in the half, but the damage was done. At halftime Lower Dauphin held a solid 29-18 lead.

The Trojans fought hard during the third quarter, but only narrowed the lead to 37-26.

Ultimately the Trojans couldn’t close the gap and fell 52-33. 

Junior Zoe Carlson lead the Trojans in points, scoring 11 overall. Senior Claudia Zugay and sophomore Anna Coulter also helped the Trojans on the scoreboard, with Zugay scoring 7 points and Coulter scoring 6. 

“It was a tough loss, but we learned how to get over it,” sophomore Mary Cotter said, “it pushed us to have a good win over East Pennsboro on Saturday.” 

The girls will take on Susquehanna Township on Monday, January 13, 2020, at 7:30 pm at Susquehanna Township High School.
