HHS Students Show Their Spirit for Homecoming 2019

Now that the excitement of returning to a new school year has begun to fade, students’ enthusiasm has switched focus to the next big school and social event: Homecoming.

In anticipation of the first school dance of the year, Hershey Student Council sponsors a spirit week to unite the student body and heighten school spirit.

This year, spirit week falls upon the dates of Sept. 29 – Oct. 4, 2019. The schoolwide homecoming theme decided by the student council is “Decades.” Each class has their own sub-theme, the freshmen being the 90s, sophomores the 70s, Juniors the 30s, Seniors the 20s, and the teachers are representing the 80s.

The themes for the 2019 Spirit week include Monday jersey day, Tuesday crazy sock day, Wednesday hat day, Thursday “dress like your decade” day, and Friday class homecoming t-shirt or Hershey spirit.

A new addition this year, student council has also introduced a spirit week competition between the homerooms. Each day, a student council representative counted how many people participated in the spirit day theme in each homeroom; the winning homeroom will receive free cookie coupons for the school cafeteria.
